They say that you never know a culture or the real food of a country if you don’t know it by someone from there. I call myself a lucky person for being surrounded by international friends. One of my closest friends is Chinese, and he took me to this amazing new experience: the Chinese “Hot pot”.
First of all, the place is just really original and clean. They receive you and if it is too crowded they give you the menu to start choosing. I recommend to go with a Chinese or someone who knows well how it works, there are even some veggies that even if they are written in French, never heard about them.
You pay between 30-35 and you can choose as much as you want from the menu. I always order the spicy meat, marinated chicken and as much as vegetables as I can. If you like to try different things, you can order from pork brain to trips, to be honest, I am not a fan of it, so I go for the basic. Don’t forget to choose your soup, if you can tolerate the chili, go for the spicy one, if not, just don’t do it… you may die.
Once you order, you sit on the table and you have a big hot pot. You can control the temperature as it is placed above an electric stove, or whatever you call it.
Once the soup is boiling, you start adding the meat and veggies so they will start cooking themselves with the hot soup. You can go to the sauce bar and mix as much as oil, garlic, chili, soy sauce etc as you want. That sauce will be the final touch to eat what you cooked.
It gets really crowded, so I recommend to arrive early or to reserve.
